The ability to enjoy life physically is a function governed by the Sacral chakra. It is located in the pelvis and rests towards the sacrum. It governs our ability to develop a sense of abundance and experience our vital well being. We discover a sense of what good living means through the healthy function of our Sacral chakra.
Moving forward in life is a function of the Sacral chakra. which becomes impossible with unresolved unconscious blocks from energy formed by family, church or culture in the Root chakra.
Under healthy function of the Root chakra, the Sacral chakra is enabled energetically to affect emotions in an Authentic way, unleashing creativity and intuition in every aspect of emotional reality. Since the Sacral chakra is governed by the element of water, unexpressed emotions can cause fluid retention in the body.
As all chakras are imprinted upon [change their behavior and function based upon our] ideas, Sacral chakra is deeply imprinted upon by our ideas surrounding pleasure and sexuality. Wholesome attitudes surrounding sexuality offer us promise of deep abiding connection, fulfillment and joy with another.
To the degree we value, respect, honor and nurture ourselves, the Sacral chakra opens to receive pleasure and abundance. If we doubt our right to pleasure, we subconscious act out accordingly with disrespect of self, and the chakra becomes depleted.
The Sacral chakra controls appetite, as appetite is a lesson revolving around the understanding and knowing of what is ‘enough’.
In Sanskrit, the name for the Sacral chakra is Swvatistana, which translates as “my sweet abode”. It is where we cherish the physical presence, finding health, goodness and appreciation.
