Today’s Inspired Action: DIY Homemade Ginger Ale.
This ale is really easy to make but needs to be consumed after you make it. The carbonation does not last long and the contents should not be sealed or it will explode into a mess all over the place. Kids who like Ginger Ale really like this project!
3 tbs ginger root [peeled]
4 quarts boiling water
3 cups sugar
3 tbs cream of tartar
1 tbs yeast
Make the peeled ginger a mash [I suggest pounding it in a plastic bag]. Pour the boiling water over it and add the juice of a lime, sugar and cream of tartar. Cover with a cloth and let cool until it is lukewarm. Add yeast and let rest 6 hours. Chill, strain and serve. Makes 4 quarts.
If you like to add seltzer water to the mixture for a weaker taste [like me] by all means, go ahead. Everyone has different preferences! Enjoy.
